Understanding
what is involved in buying a home can be very scary to most
first time home buyers. This is the biggest investment you
will ever make, and never having done this before, where do
you turn for help.
The Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has developed an
educational program for first time homebuyers. It takes
approximately 7 hours and is offered monthly by Neighborhood
Housing and Development Corporation both in Ocala and
Gainesville. This program will qualify you for all SHIP
programs, Federal Home Loan Bank grants and entitles you to
.5% reduction in your FHA mortgage Insurance Premium (MIP).
The program
takes you from the point of "Am I ready to buy a home?", to
"How do I care for my new home", and covers financing,
looking for a home and closing on your home. the cost is
$25.00, but if you get an FHA mortgage you will save 10
times this amount.
Terry Thompson has been the
moderator of the Ocala class since June 1999.
